Management Team BiographiesRichard Beedon, CEO, is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor with over 30 years of technology experience. Over the past 14 years, Dick has created four companies resulting in over 160 new jobs and $120M in market capitalization. Dick’s first venture was University Netcasting, where he served as founder and CEO leading up to a successful merger and IPO in 2000. It is currently one of the leading sports web sites on the Internet with over eight million unique visitors per month. He then founded JustTalk (2000) and the MacBeedon Group (2002). Most recently, he architected the acquisition, turn-around, and sale of Entyre (2006). Dick started his career as a business development and sales executive at IBM, In addition to his expertise in sales and marketing and demonstrated success in growing companies, Dick brings an extensive network of human capital and demonstrated ability to raise funding. Dick is a graduate of the University of Michigan and resides in Ann Arbor.* MacBeedon Partners LLC Managing Company Kevin Wittrup, COO, is a results-driven leader with broad experience in product development, operations management, and a track record of turning ideas into product and profit with discipline and sense of urgency. Throughout an 11-year career in the automotive industry marked by rapid progression through assignments with increasing responsibility and impact at General Motors Corp, Kevin has lead all aspects of product development and systems integration for highly engineered product including responsibility for a $750M product line and $13M budget, the successful design, development, and launch of four major products, and most recently as the assistant chief engineer for the 2008 Chevy Malibu. Kevin holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a MBA from the University Of Michigan Ross School Of Business. * MacBeedon Partners LLC Managing Company Victor Katch, CSO, presently a Professor of Movement Science, Division of Kinesiology, an Associate Professor of Pediatric Cardiology at The University of Michigan School of Medicine has done extensive research in the area of body composition, nutrition, exercise and weight control, and is the author of Exercise Physiology, the most widely used textbook in the field. He also does research in the area of energy metabolism and exercise in adults and adolescents. Professor Katch holds an appointment in the Section of Pediatric Cardiology, Department of Pediatrics and is associated with the Pediatric Exercise Physiology Laboratory in that department. Professor Katch has degrees in Political Science and Physical Education from California State University and the University of California. Dr. Kathryn Clark, Vice President of Training, has broad experience in the fields of kinesiology, muscle physiology, and human factors engineering. She currently serves on the NASA Special Task Force for the International Space Station and, while previously on leave from the University of Michigan Medical School, served as Chief Scientist for Human Exploration & Development of Space Enterprise at NASA. Among other responsibilities, she was tasked with establishing countermeasures for undesirable physical changes associated with prolonged space operations and has conducted research on neuromuscular development and adaptation in altered environments. Dr. Clark holds a Doctoral Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan and currently serves as the Chairperson for Michigan Technological Universities Board of Control and is a member of the board of Trustees at Western Reserve Academy and the board of Orion’s Quest, an education focused non-profit organization. Melissa Heike, Director of Marketing, joins the EdgeHealth team with an extensive educational background in both Marketing and Communication. After the completion of her Master’s degree at Eastern Michigan University she joined the Sports Marketing team at the institution. During her experience with EMU athletics department she has been an integral part of the university’s public relations policies and marketing strategies. She is a highly motivated & dedicated individual with a very adaptable skill set which makes her a perfect fit for the entrepreneurial environment. Michael Leonardi, Director of Sales, is a sales professional with experience in the physical therapy and healthcare market. He is currently Director of Operations for DBL Healthcare Services and was instrumental in increasing sales revenue by 500% between 2005 and 2006. Mr. Leonardi brings a wealth of contacts and relationships to the EdgeHealth and experience with billing and sales practices inherent to the healthcare industry. Board of Advisors InformationDr. Arthur Weltman is Professor of Human Services and Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia where he is also director of the General Clinical Research Center Exercise Physiology Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and has taught at the University of Colorado, the University of Louisville, and Western Illinois University before coming to U.Va. in 1985. He has been a faculty member in the Darden School¹s Executive Education program. He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the North American Society for the Study of Obesity and the American Diabetes Association. In 1985, he co-edited The Proceedings of the 1983 White House symposium on Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine. He is the author of over 175 Articles and a regularly invited speaker at hundreds of professional meetings and academic conferences. Dr. Weltman is a grant reviewer for the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health and has served on numerous health and fitness advisory boards across the country. He has also been a soccer coach and a basketball coach for many years.Christopher D. Ingersoll is the Joe H. Gieck Professor of Sports Medicine, director of the Graduate Programs in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, and adjunct professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia. Ingersoll currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Athletic Training and previously served as president of the NATA Research and Education Foundation. His research has focused on the neurophysiological and neuromechanical consequences of injury and the neurophysiological mechanisms of rehabilitation interventions. He has authored or coauthored over 90 peer reviewed publications, 230 presentations at scientific meetings, and 55 invited presentations or symposia in the areas of Sports Medicine, Athletic Training and Neuroscience. |
