MICHAEL BURG
PresidentMike knows how to reach people through entertainment. The founder of Edge Health, he’s worked since 1988 creating thousands of hours of network television, including multiple primetime network specials (including the Teen Choice Awards), using humor and a light hearted approach to reach millions of viewers. Prior to founding Edge, Mike did event marketing and production for Jefferson-Pilot Sports Networks and CBS Sports. He also executive produced multiple national Olympic figure skating tours and started the Tour de Trump, the biggest bike race in the United States. Mike has also provided personal representation services for both Olympic and professional athletes and has also created campaigns for multiple Fortune 500 companies.
FRED BOUCHERLE
VP Business Affairs & OperationsFred is an entertainment industry professional with more than 20 years of experience in creating, producing, and managing live events and TV productions. He has held key management positions with leading sports and entertainment companies including Clear Channel Entertainment/Live Nation, SFX Sports, Jefferson-Pilot Sports, and Raycom Sports & Entertainment. As general manager at Edge Health, Fred is responsible for the day to day operations and business affairs of the company. His direct experience in building brands and content across multiple platforms including broadcast, cable, web, events, and tours combined with his extensive industry knowledge bring significant depth to the company's capabilities.
Prior to joining Edge Health in 2008 Fred was senior vice president at Clear Channel Entertainment (now Live Nation), where he managed the company's sports events, tours and television productions. Over his career he has been responsible for creating and managing many innovative, successful events and television programs for CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, USA Network, and ESPN.
Courtney Buysse
Director of Campaign ManagementCourtney holds more than 10 years of marketing experience; eight in the health care industry. At Edge Health, Courtney manages overall marketing and communications strategies for existing campaigns while also maintaining timelines and maximizing relationships with advocacy groups, sponsors, professional medical organizations, and affiliated partners. Before coming to Edge Health, Courtney was Marketing Manager for Southeast Pain Care and Southeast Anesthesiology Associates, a leader in providing quality, cost efficient, and service oriented anesthesia and pain management to patients. Courtney’s experience includes promotional strategy, digital marketing, website development, special event planning, and market research.
Brian Garofalo
Sales and Marketing/Health Care AdvocacyBrian has more than twenty years of management experience with three major pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical companies; Amgen, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Hoechst-Roussel. He has been an effective liaison for his industry and patient communities in the disease areas of Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes and Cardiovascular. Brian’s advocacy career has focused mainly on ensuring patients and physicians have the ability to maintain access to innovative therapies. He himself is a cancer survivor and is widely sought for his experience and passion for the patient – understanding that whatever the issue may be, solutions are more plausible if a patient-centric approach is maintained
Ashley Elliott
Director of Account ManagementAs director of account management, Ashley is responsible for overseeing sponsorship sales across all Edge Health campaigns, as well as, developing marketing strategies and sponsorship proposals and materials for each campaign. Ashley is passionate about creating customized sponsorship platforms that uniquely tie partners into Edge Health campaigns, using entertainment to help companies reach their target audiences with specific health messages.
Dr. Martin J. Murphy
Strategic Direction - Health InitiativesDr. Murphy is Founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AlphaMed Consulting, Inc., which provides strategic support for academic cancer centers and cancer drug development programs of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Founding Executive Editor of the 15-year-old peer-reviewed journal, The Oncologist, he is also the Founding Executive Editor of Stem Cells, a 28-year-old journal of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Murphy was founder and former Chief Executive Officer of the Hipple Cancer Research Center, NIH principal investigator, and author of more than 150 peer-reviewed papers.Dr. Murphy was a charter member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Pappas Ventures, Inc. (2002-2008) and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (Dr. Herbert Boyer, chair) of Hatteras Venture Partners.
Dr. Murphy has chaired the Conquer Cancer Foundation® of the American Society of Clinical Oncology since 2010 and served as a member of the Foundation Board since 2005. A director of the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (Dr. Charles Sanders, chair), Dr. Murphy is a member of the Board of Visitors of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, member of the Board of Advisors of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute (Sam Donaldson, chair), and a charter member and director of C-Change, co-chaired by former President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush; U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, vice chair.
Dr. Julie Vose
Strategic Direction - Health InitiativesJulie M. Vose, MD is the Neumann M. and Mildred E. Harris Professor and Chief in the Division of Oncology/Hematology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr Vose received her medical degree, completed her residency in Internal Medicine, served as Chief Resident, and completed a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr Vose also completed a Lymphoma Vaccine Therapy sabbatical in Dr Ronald Levy’s lab at Stanford University. . She also recently completed an MBA in Health Administration through the University of Colorado Business School.
Dr Vose has focused her career on translational research for improvement in the therapy of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) by developing a focused translational research program evaluating novel therapies such as radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies, idiotype vaccine therapies, pathway directed agents and stem cell transplantation. Dr Vose has been recognized for her NHL research on a national and international level through research awards and invited lectureships worldwide. In addition, her funding record and publications in NHL therapy and transplantation research have added substantially to the research and knowledge base for the therapy of lymphoma. She is currently the Co-Chair for the National Cancer Institute Lymphoma Sub-Committee and a member of the FDA Oncologic Drug Advisory Committee.
